I managed recruitment for a number of jobs in BA such as pilots, cabin crew, graduates which involved interviewing and selecting them. Being a recruitment consultant involves managing the full project from start to finish including deciding where to advertise the job, the job description, the type of recruitment methods you will use, organising the selection process and people involved and managing the relationship with the candidate through to offer and onboarding.
I work with managers and colleagues to ensure people felt they are treated with respect and dignity at work, feeling valued for who they are and able to progress and fulfil their ambitions. Diversity and Inclusion is about recognising everyone's differences, such as gender, race, sexuality, religion and valuing this difference in the workplace. We have online groups where colleagues can support each other and share information and advice on aspects of their job, career aspirations or whatever their interest is. We also work with our managers to equip them with skills in managing their teams.
This role involved providing advice and guidance to managers on HR policy and process in the areas of performance, conduct, grievance and absence. Also coaching managers in managing their teams. A lot of this role involved working with our legal team to ensure we were up to date with legal procedures and changes in the law on equality-related issues.
Wellbeing and Inclusion is about working to promote good physical and mental health for colleagues to enable them to feel healthy and well at work. We want to try and prevent employees from being ill or absent from work and to feel engaged and motivated at work. We work closely with our occupational health team and have volunteers across the organisation who hold roadshows and events to provide information and advice to our employees on how to manage their wellbeing.

I knew I wanted to work with people and to support people but wasn't sure of my career direction.
I would have undertaken more voluntary work to broaden my horizons. I love politics and current affairs. If I had my time again, I would love to get involved in local politics or be an MP's researcher in Parliament. I encourage anyone interested in politics to get involved early and join a local debating society.
