Marketing and Events Executive

Responsible for delivering day-to-day marketing support to deliver key marketing strategic initiatives. Management and coordination through events and conferences, communications through email campaigns and surveys, build and maintain a wide network, contribute to the proactive lead generation to develop new business opportunities.

I'm very fortunate to enjoy all my jobs as they all compliment each other. Something I'll be working on in one project will give me a great idea for another. It's constant motivation and keeps my mind thinking up fresh, new ideas.

I consider myself a multi-hyphenate. This means I do various projects at any one time. Since the age of 15 I have always had more than 1 job and have enjoyed being able to switch between roles and tasks. I find it keeps my mind active and my perspective fresh and very often each tasks informs and inspires the other and helps me to create better work.

Originally I trained as an actress and have enjoyed a varied career in theatre, film, radio and commercial.

Alongside this I have worked in various event roles from field management to account management which enabled me to work flexibly between acting jobs.

Currently, I work 4 days a week at finnCap as their Marketing and Events Executive. In this role I support my Head of Marketing to organise and coordinate events and conferences, develop communications through email campaigns and surveys, design and produce marketing collateral from adverts, to magazines, to flyers, build and maintain a wide network, contribute to the proactive lead generation to develop new business opportunities.

My other projects include wedding styling and coordination (Blonde Army) , running a lifestyle blog (Journal of a Blonde) and launching a destination venue platform (tbc).

I am an advocate for entrepreneurs who believe in them selves and their idea. I'm also highly supportive of the multi-hyphenate lifestyle and that having as many strings to your bow is a positive not a negative, as you can transition much easier through changes that happen in the modern workplace.

Marketing, advertising and public relations PR

I think a positive attitude and a willingness to ask questions, learn and get stuck in are what has made me develop quickly and presented me with the opportunities I've been lucky enough to experience. I value experience so much as it gives you confidence, insight and practical skills.

I developed my skills by jumping in the deep end. I think the best way to learn is practically so I offered to do various internships or shadow people working in the areas I wanted to learn about. A lot of my experience was gained in the field, on the job. There are a lot on online resources too so watching YouTube videos, seminars, completing online workbooks and attending workshops and networking events. And asking questions. Ask lots and often!

I wanted to be an actress which is what I went onto study and develop as a career. I also knew from a young age that I wanted my own company and to not work the usual 9-5 Monday to Friday.

I wouldn't change a lot if I'm honest but I probably wouldn't have gone to drama school if I was to start my career now. The qualification and status of your degree doesn't mean as much as it did in today's industry. I think gaining more experience and building a better network would be more valuable.
