I get to have a positive effect on the world around us. An Architect Part II is someone who makes all of the drawings for designing, pricing and constructing a building. An Architect Part III has passed their chartered exams and moves into a more managerial position. Right now I enjoy drawing construction details and collaborating with clients, engineers and end users.
As an architect, have designed many houses. My favourite one was for a friend and it is a passive house, meaning it is designed and built in a way that keeps it warm so less fuel is needed to heat it is more environmentally friendly. I am passionate about this method and reducing fuel dependency.
My favourite building is Saint Paul's Cathedral in London. I like it because it has survived for so long, and survived the Great Fire because the people loved it so much, they rebuilt it. For me, it signifies the power of making a great place that people love, the strong connection between everyday people and great design.
Great design makes great places, great places make people happy. My favourite modern building is The Gherkin, or 30 St. Mary's Axe. It is a feat of engineering and mathematics and also aims to be environmentally responsible. It is a triumph of brain power making something beautiful.
I really did not know for sure what I wanted to do.
It is good to find out what your talents are and focus on improving them.
